While most window companies will be very careful not to damage anything while on the job, it never hurts for you to take extra precautions. Protect your lovely hardwood floors from scratches by laying down inexpensive plastic sheeting purchased from the dollar store or placing a canvas drop cloth.
On the day of the installation, workers will be lugging ladders and other equipment around your house. It is a good idea to arrange for small pets and young children to be away while the job is being done or, at the very least, you should restrict access to the work area to keep animals and children safe.
